Approach and anchoring
Pick up a buoy or wait for the boatman to come out. Which buoys suit which size was unclear in 2020, and few buoys took boats over 10 m in 2023. The bay is open to the SW, and in 2025 a slight swell ran even in calm weather. Day traffic raises wash, and in the evening only the shuttle boat does. In 2022 a yacht anchored near the cliffs in 18 to 25 m, sheltered from southerly swell, and met strong gusts next morning.
Practical
Since June 2025 a buoy requires registering the boat online with the Portofino marine protected area and paying a 16 euro stamp fee. Buoys are then free from 6 pm to 10 am. Daytime stops are booked and paid online, cheap under 7 m and dearer above. A receipt is mandatory. In 2020 dinghies could not be left ashore. A shuttle runs to the restaurant, reachable only by sea. In August 2023 the passage ashore cost 10 euros a person.
