Approach and anchoring

Entry to the Lorient roadstead through the main channel past the Citadelle de Port-Louis. The Sainte-Catherine mooring lies on the east side of the roadstead, well protected and free of roll. Room to anchor outside the buoyed field is tight, wedged between the moorings and the fairway, with steady traffic passing at speed, so allow enough chain for the current and wind and reckon it suits boats under about 10 metres better than heavy ones. VHF 9. Watch for regular ferry traffic between Lorient, Port-Louis and Locmiquélic.
