Rocky anchorage on the south-east coast of Corsica near the Réserve naturelle de Tre Padule de Suartone, between Sant'Amanza and Bonifacio.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Rocky bottom, tenue variable, drop clear of rock ledges. Shelter from NW, N, NE and W, which makes it a decent mistral anchorage. Open to the south and east towards the Bouches de Bonifacio. In the cove itself, running two lines ashore to the first rocks at its mouth makes a settled berth; small craft come and go through the day, and it is quieter by evening. Sant'Amanza 2.9 NM S, Bonifacio 5.4 NM SW for full refuge.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no facilities. Strict reserve rules apply on land, which is classified as a Natura 2000 site and managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral. Do not land on signposted protected sections.
Ashore
The Tre Padule de Suartone reserve protects three temporary Mediterranean ponds, a rare habitat in Corsica, listed under the Ramsar Convention since 2007. A marked path crosses the site from the D859 road. The coast is granite and maquis, with the Bouches de Bonifacio Marine Nature Reserve just offshore.
