Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the Golfe de Santa Manza from the south-east and hold that side going in, as a shoal of about 0.5 m lies roughly 200 m off the full east. The cove is at the western end of the gulf. Sand bottom with good holding, but posidonia is present and it shoals to under 2 m near the sandbar at the head, so favour the south shore going in. A submerged wall a few metres wide marked by two buoys, and a wreck near the entrance, should be given a wide berth, and mooring buoys clutter the water. A small dike near the entrance takes three or four boats stern-to in about 2 m. Shelter comes from all sectors thanks to the surrounding relief, though easterlies send swell into the gulf.
Practical
No facilities in the cove. Santa Manza village 0.6 NM to the south-east for a few beach restaurants and seasonal services. Bonifacio 2.9 NM to the south-west by sea for fuel, water and full marina services.
Ashore
Santa Manza beach of fine sand at the head of the gulf. Hiking on the limestone plateau above the cove toward Bonifacio along the Sentier du Patrimoine. Maquis scrubland typical of southern Corsica with cork oaks and myrtle.
