Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east across the bay of Saint-Brieuc, watching the strong spring tidal range of the area. Sand bottom. Sheltered from SW, W and NW winds, fully exposed to the east and to any swell from the bay. The tidal stream sets strongly across the roadstead and is a hazard for anyone swimming. Port d'Armor 0.3 nm to the NW and the deep-water marina of Saint-Quay-Portrieux 0.4 nm to the west are accessible at all tides.

Practical

Anchor only, no buoy field. It is a handy place to lie when the gated basins at Binic or Le Légué can only be entered near high water. Full services at Port d'Armor and at the marina of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, including diesel, water, electricity and a boatyard with travel lift.

Ashore

Beach of Saint-Quay and seafront promenade along the roadstead. Centre of Saint-Quay-Portrieux with shops, fish market and restaurants at about 500 m from the marina. Coastal GR34 footpath runs through the village north towards the headland of Saint-Quay and south towards Binic.
