Open roadstead on the Côtes-d'Armor coast between Binic and Saint-Quay-Portrieux, sand bottom, sheltered from the western sectors and open from the east.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from seaward clear of the Roches de Saint-Quay to the north. Depths of 4 to 8 metres at low water, chart datum, shoaling to a shallow sandy shelf close inshore. Good shelter in westerly winds with the land behind, but the roadstead is open from the east and grows uncomfortable when the swell works in.

Practical

No moorings or services. Use as a daytime stop only. Binic harbour lies 0.8 nm south, with a lock-gated basin accessible around high water. Saint-Quay-Portrieux marina 1.9 nm north is accessible at all tides and has full services.

Ashore

A small beach lies at the foot of the cliff below the anchorage, easy to land on. The GR34 coastal path runs along the cliffs between Binic and Saint-Quay. Old customs-officers watchtower, the Corps de garde that gives the place its name, stands on the headland above the anchorage.
