Approach and anchoring

Approach in clear visibility only, weaving between the granite heads that break at low water. Sheltered from W, SW and S and open to the east, though one crew met a big rolling swell in a north-westerly, so it works best in a settled south-westerly. The bottom is pebble with large kelp and holding is poor, so use a trip line. Boats drawing up to 2 m can stand in close to the shore.

Practical

Daylight stop by settled weather, and a useful option for boats over 10 m, the length limit on the visitor moorings at Perros-Guirec. Port de Ploumanac'h lies 0.9 NM west with its tidal sill, and Perros-Guirec marina is 1.6 NM to the SE for a deep-water refuge.

Ashore

Sentier des Douaniers, the former customs path, runs along the shore past the chaos of pink granite blocks and the Mean Ruz lighthouse at Ploumanac'h roughly 1 NM on foot from the landing. The site is managed by the Conservatoire du littoral.
