Deep bay on the east coast of Caprera in the La Maddalena archipelago, Sardinia. Sand and mud bottom, sheltered on all sides except the south. Windsurf and kitesurf centre at the head of the bay.

Approach and anchoring

Anchor in 3 to 8 m on sand and mud. Holding is good. In April 2026 the anchor held in 40 kn of grecale with gusts of 60 kn. Park mooring buoys lie on the east side of the bay. In 2025 the red buoys belonged to the sailing school. Sailing school dinghies and regattas can crowd the entrance in season. Some rocks lie close to the surface. Old pots and mooring blocks lie off the piers, disused piers included.

Practical

The bay lies in the La Maddalena national park and a navigation fee is due. A week cost about 60 euros in 2025. In June 2026 the yellow park buoys were free with the fee, except those marked white, with no booking. The buoys filled quickly in July 2025. A tap at the foot of the quay, under the wooden steps, gave clean water in 2026. The quays serve the sailing school, so tenders can land on the beach by the old military sheds.

Ashore

A 1 km dirt track climbs to Stagnali, with a free mineral and maritime museum and a bus to La Maddalena. Tickets cost 1.50 euros on board or 1 euro from a tobacconist in 2026. Marked trails cross Caprera, including 3.5 km to Garibaldi's house and a shorter, rougher climb to the Poggio Rasu batteries.
