Guide
Approach and anchoring
Anchorage forbidden on the posted bathing zone. Sand bottom close to shore. The bay gives lee from NW, W and SW airs, with the Quiberon peninsula acting as a breakwater from the prevailing westerlies. A sailing school works the beach morning and afternoon and boats are sometimes asked to move, so keep well off it, rather towards the old Fort Neuf, and expect aircraft noise from the nearby Quiberon aerodrome. For a quieter, better sheltered berth the Castero anchorage behind Port-Haliguen is preferred; otherwise use Port-Haliguen 0.2 nm NW or Port-Maria 1.3 nm SW.
Practical
No vessel services at the beach itself. Fresh water tap ashore for swimmers. Port-Haliguen marina at 0.2 nm has around 1 100 berths, diesel, electricity and full chandlery.
