Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south clear of Îlot Saint-Michel and the rocky ledges off Cap d'Erquy. Drop in 3 to 5 m on sand. Visitor buoys lie near the harbour entrance by the second dike; green buoys in the old harbour dry out over flat, compact sand, about 2h30 either side of low water at moderate coefficients. Take a drying buoy only with no swell or chop, as they sit exposed to the wind, and expect a busy scene with a sailing school and jet skis. Open from N through SE; shift into Port d'Erquy if the wind backs north. VHF 9 for the harbour.

Practical

A harbour hand comes round the moorings, though there are no other services on them. Port d'Erquy 0.2 NM west has water, diesel and a fuel berth, with a single shower ashore. Bakeries, butchers and a Casino supermarket in the village within 400 m of the quay, and fresh fish is sold cheaply at the harbour counter.

Ashore

Erquy beach runs directly off the stern. Sentier des douaniers GR34 climbs the Cap d'Erquy sandstone cliffs, reaching the semaphore at 1.8 km. Criée fish auction on the harbour sells scallops, a local specialty; the coquille Saint-Jacques festival is held each April.
