Approach and anchoring
Anchoring off the Sablettes beach has been prohibited since May 2026 by a prefectoral decree confirmed by Menton town hall, and the new no-anchor limits are posted locally. The roadstead is open to the south and rolled heavily even in calm weather from the backwash off the sea wall, so it never gave a settled night. Boats now use the Menton marinas instead.
Practical
With anchoring no longer permitted, shelter is taken in the Menton marinas. Menton Vieux-Port lies 0.2 NM to the south and Menton-Garavan 0.4 NM to the north-east, both offering fuel, berths and chandlery.
Ashore
Promenade du Soleil runs along the seafront to Menton old town in under 15 minutes on foot. The Jean Cocteau museum and the covered market of the Halles are within 1 km. The Garavan botanical gardens sit on the hillside 1.5 km to the north-east.
Story
Menton hosts the Fete du Citron every February, built around tonnes of lemons and oranges grown on the surrounding terraces.
