Anchorage off the sandy beach of La Madrague, a cove on the western side of the Baie des Lecques, between La Ciotat and Bandol.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south with the Bec de l'Aigle astern. Anchor on the sand to the left of the harbour entrance, in 3 to 6 metres, keeping off the posidonia to the right, which the marine park watches; stay inside the 300 m strip but not too far north of the harbour, where the bottom shoals quickly. Holding is good. Shelter from N, NE, E and SE; a SW or S swell wraps in and rolls the anchorage, when a stern anchor to face it helps. The mistral falls off the coast.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services on the water. Tenders are welcome in the small harbour of La Madrague de Saint-Cyr, 0.2 nm south, left at the pontoon just inside the entrance or by the harbour office on request; there is a water point and bins by the office. The Vieux Port des Lecques is 0.7 nm to the NW if a berth is needed.

Ashore

Sandy beach at the anchorage, with a bakery, a small U supermarket with a bread counter and a tobacconist in La Madrague village within 300 m. Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer is a 20-minute walk along the shore. Sentier du littoral runs from the beach around the Pointe Grenier to Les Lecques in about 45 minutes of walking.
