Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south in open water. Keep clear of Île Rousse and its off-lying rocks on the eastern side of the bay. No buoyed channel, so sound in carefully as depths shoal close to the shore. Anchor on the sand patches between rock in 5 to 10 metres, where holding is good. Well sheltered from north and west but open to the south, and it rolls badly from residual swell and passing traffic even in calm weather, so it suits a day stop more than a night.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. Bandol plaisance lies 1.4 nautical miles east for fuel, water and provisioning. Port Athena is 0.8 nautical miles south-east.

Ashore

The sentier du littoral runs along the Pointe de la Cride headland above the bay. A rock shaped like a submarine sits in the bay, a favourite for jumping and snorkelling. Bandol town centre, shops and the fish market are a 25 minute walk east along the coast path.
