Approach and anchoring

Enter from the SE, mid-channel, keeping clear of the rocks off both headlands. An isolated rock charted as la Seiche d'Alon lies about 200 m off the entrance on the approach axis, covered by only 0.60 m, so give it a wide berth. Seabed is rock with patches of posidonia: drop on clear sand in about 5 to 7 m. Inside the Natura 2000 zone FR9301997, ecological buoys laid in season take up much of the cove and leave little room to anchor.

Practical

Day anchorage, sheltered from NW, N and NE winds. Open to southerlies and to swell, which tends to work in at night, more so after a mistral, so a stern anchor helps hold the bow into it. Fallback to Port Athena 1.1 NM SE or to La Madrague de Saint-Cyr 1.4 NM NW. No services on site.

Ashore

Footpath through the pine wood up to the ONF car park in about 10 min. Sentier du littoral links the calanque to La Madrague de Saint-Cyr to the west and to the beach of La Moutte to the east. A small beach at the head of the creek has a seasonal bar and shower. Domaine du Port d'Alon vineyard 800 m inland, AOC Bandol.
