Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the S with good visibility on the bay. Bottom is sand with Posidonia patches. Under the ZMEL scheme anchoring is prohibited once the buoys are laid for the season, so pick up a buoy; the ring is thick and hard to catch with a boathook on a high-freeboard boat. VHF 9 for the buoy operator in season. Shelter from NW through NE and from the W; open to the S and SE.

Practical

Seasonal buoys managed as a ZMEL, free during the day and payable for the night at around 30 euros. Book on the Lavandou ZMEL website after calling the Le Lavandou harbour office; no attendant is on the buoy. Landing a tender on the beach is difficult and enforced away from the bathing area. Le Lavandou marina 2.6 nm to the W for water, fuel and 1,100 berths. Shops, bakery and restaurants along the Cavalière beachfront.

Ashore

Beach of fine sand about 800 m long, lifeguarded in summer. The restaurant Les Sirènes stands on the beach mid-bay with a SPAR grocery behind it, and a beach club plays loud music late into the night. Sentier du littoral from Cavalière to Pramousquier, about 2.5 km. Cap Nègre headland 1 km to the W, private but visible from the path.

History

The Zone de mouillages et d'équipements légers at Cavalière was set up by the commune of Le Lavandou to reduce anchor damage to the Posidonia meadow, part of the Natura 2000 site Corniche varoise.
