Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Bay of La Forêt to the west. Sand and mud bottom shoaling gently toward the beach, sound on approach. Sheltered from N through W winds by the Cap-Coz spit. Open to southerly winds and swell entering the bay from SW, when it rolls heavily and is best left. Floating weed and sediment come through at the turn of the tide.
Practical
Drop anchor in 3 to 5 metres on sand and mud. Fresh water is on hand at the public toilets on the beach. Port-la-Forêt marina lies one mile to the SW for fuel, water and services. Penfoulic cove 0.4 mile NW is a fall-back shelter in southerly winds.
Ashore
Cap-Coz sand beach reached by tender. The GR 34 coastal path runs along the shoreline, with Fouesnant village 2.5 km away on foot. Sailing club and slipway on the beach itself.
