Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the E in open water off the Golfe de Sant'Amanza. Sand bottom, good holding in 3 to 6 m. A field of large buoys reserved for maxi yachts has spread across the bay; smaller craft anchor on the sand outside it and clear of the swim-zone markers, and boats may be checked to confirm the anchor is on sand. Shelter from N, NW, W and SW, very good in a strong westerly. Exposed to the E and SE, where swell works in. Watch the rocky shelf on the northern side of the cove.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no services. Sant'Amanza bay 2 NM to S for further shelter from N winds. Port of Bonifacio 4.1 NM to SW for fuel, berths and full services.
Ashore
Plage de Balistra is an undeveloped sand beach backed by a lagoon classified Natura 2000 for wading birds. A single beach bar serves drinks, with food only by prior arrangement and dear. The lagoon can be explored by tender keeping to the creek channel, about 1.70 m deep inside. No road down, track from the D158 some 2 km inland. Diving on the granite reefs to the south.
