Approach and anchoring

Reached by the Canal du Loing from its junction with the Seine at Saint-Mammès, 16 km downstream. Standard VNF gauge, maximum draught 1.80 m, air draught roughly 3.50 m under the lowest bridge. Several locks between Saint-Mammès and Nemours, lockkeepers operate on VNF schedule. The reach is fairly well sheltered in strong winds, with tall trees along the opposite bank. Halte de Plaisance of Nemours lies 0.2 NM NE.

Practical

Pontoon moorings on the Loing within the town have water and electricity and are used largely by houseboats. There is also a free length of concrete quay with bollards but no services. A Carrefour, bakeries and the SNCF station lie within 500 m. Paris Gare de Lyon reachable in 1 h by train.

Ashore

Château-Musée de Nemours, a 12th-century keep overlooking the river. Rochers de Nemours and the southern edge of the forest of Fontainebleau, with bouldering and hiking trails within 2 km of the port. Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste dates from the 13th to 16th centuries. A food market is held in town, generally on a Saturday.
