Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west through the marked channel north of the Plateau des Bayonnelles. Extensive drying flats to the east and south of the point, strictly a half-tide approach for a 1,5 m draught. No lights. VHF 9 for the port of Mesquer.
Practical
Eight buoys, sand bottom, good holding. Shelter from NW through W to S. Exposed to the N and E over the salt-marsh flats. Visitor buoys cost around 9 euros a night. No water or fuel on the moorings, but a free shore shuttle runs in season depending on the tide, called on VHF 9. Kercabellec quay 0,5 NM south for landing, Piriac-sur-Mer 3,9 NM SW for a full marina.
Ashore
Salt marshes of Mesquer and Guérande begin immediately inland, working salt pans open for guided visits in summer. Coastal path around the Pointe de Merquel joins the GR34 towards Piriac. Village of Mesquer 2 km by road, bakery, small grocery and the salt producers' cooperative.
