River marina on the Trieux estuary, Côtes-d'Armor, 4 nautical miles upriver from the open sea, with 741 berths.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry from the Baie de Pontrieux between La Horaine lighthouse and Les Heaux de Brehat. The Trieux channel is well buoyed, with the Grand Chenal leading past Ile a Bois. The marina sits on the west bank just below the suspension bridge. Strong tidal streams in the channel, up to 4 knots. Maximum draught 3 m at the pontoons. VHF channel 9. The marina is accessible at all states of tide; the fiercest current runs along the outer transit pontoons, so a berth between the pontoons lies quieter and slack water makes arrival easiest.
Practical
741 berths with a visitor pontoon by the capitainerie, diesel, water, electricity, WC and showers, and a card-operated launderette open around the clock. A boatyard has a 40 tonne travel-lift and hard standing. Bikes can be hired at the tourist office behind the marina, with buses to Paimpol and Treguier. Bakery and small grocery in the village 500 m off, a supermarket at Paimpol 6 km away. Reckon on roughly 33 to 53 euros a night.
Ashore
The restaurant Le Lezard by the marina is well regarded, and the village holds a Saturday morning market. The Sillon de Talbert shingle spit, a Natura 2000 site, lies 10 km north. The Cote de granit rose begins at Ploumanac'h 25 km west. Chateau de la Roche-Jagu, a 15th century Breton fortified manor with gardens, stands 5 km upriver, open Easter to October.
History
Lézardrieux was a trading port for linen and grain in the 18th and 19th centuries. The suspension bridge over the Trieux, first built in 1840 and rebuilt in 1925, is one of the oldest road suspension bridges still in service in France.
