Anchorage off the Îles Cerbicale, a rocky archipelago 2 NM east of Porto-Vecchio on the south-east coast of Corsica.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west out of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio. The archipelago is a classified nature reserve and landing is forbidden on the islets during the bird nesting season. Reefs and drying rocks extend between the islets, so navigate by eye in good light and keep a lookout posted.

Practical

The bottom is rock and posidonia and holding is very poor, so setting an anchor is often impossible and a trip line is essential where the anchor does hold. Shelter from NW through N to NE. Fully exposed to E and SE. Nearest refuges at Marina di Fiori and Marine Group, both 3.4 to 3.5 NM west in the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio.

Ashore

The Réserve Naturelle des Îles Cerbicale, created in 1981, protects six granite islets and a seabird colony including Audouin's gulls and shags. Landing is prohibited year-round on most islets. The Porto-Vecchio old town and citadel lie 5 NM west.
