River halt on the Rhône at La Roche-de-Glun, Drôme, on the navigable reach between Valence and Tournon.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access from the main Rhône channel, downstream of the Bourg-lès-Valence lock. The halt lies on a still, dammed arm of the old Rhône off the main channel, so there is almost no current and the pontoon sits clear of the wash of passing traffic. Room for two to three boats of about 10 metres, on pontoons in good condition with plenty of cleats. On certain days an electric trip boat uses the pontoon and boats can then only lie at one end.
Practical
Two pontoon berths with basic mooring and no water or electricity at the dock. Free for the first 48 hours, then chargeable. A sailing club is based here. Shops in the village within walking distance, including a bakery. Tournon-sur-Rhône with its full services lies 3 nautical miles to the north.
Ashore
The halt sits in a riverside park with picnic tables, a children's play area and a concrete slipway. ViaRhôna cycle route passes through the village, linking Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean along the river. Hermitage and Saint-Joseph vineyards on the right bank within 5 km.
