Approach and anchoring

Entrance from the west, buoyed channel dredged and marked by red and green lateral marks. Approach exposed to Atlantic swell, tricky in strong W to NW winds and best not attempted at low water on the ebb. Keep clear of fishing fleet movements at dawn and dusk. The leisure basin is shallow at around 2 m and visiting yachts are usually put alongside the fishermen's pontoon.

Practical

Book through the capitainerie, open Monday to Friday, with an overnight charge around 17.90 euros. Simple but decent showers and toilets. The fuel berth serves the fishing fleet and its diesel is reserved for professionals. Fish auction hall, ship chandlery and boatyard on site. Bakery, grocery and restaurants along the quai des Pêcheurs.

Ashore

Covered fish market open each afternoon when the fleet returns. Coastal footpath GR 360 runs along the dunes north and south of the harbour. Plage de la Perroche 2 km south, backed by pine forest.
