Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Marne via the Canal latéral à la Marne or from the Aisne via the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne. Maximum draught 1,0 m on the approach, air draught limited by the canal bridges. Lock schedule managed by Voies Navigables de France. No tide, no swell.

Practical

The halte was still a fenced building site and closed as of spring 2026, with a busy road running alongside. In the meantime, a quay about 100 m south takes shallow-draught boats in up to around 1.10 m, with a water point under the railway bridge by the congress centre. A VNF licence is required. Supermarket at 400 m, all shops and restaurants in the city centre at 800 m, and Reims train station at 1 km.

Ashore

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims at 1,2 km, coronation church of the kings of France, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1991. Palais du Tau and Basilique Saint-Remi in the same listing. Champagne houses open for visits in the Champagne quarter south of the canal, including Pommery, Taittinger and Veuve Clicquot within a 2 km radius.

History

The Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne was opened in 1866 to link the Aisne basin with the vineyards of the Marne. The port in Reims long handled coal and building stone before becoming a halt for pleasure craft on the Champagne waterways.
