Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reach via the Canal de l'Aisne à la Marne, a Freycinet-gauge waterway opened in 1866 between Berry-au-Bac and Condé-sur-Marne. The canal is 58 km long with 24 locks. Approach from the Alger lock to the north-west or from Loivre 1.7 NM to the north-west. Lock operation by VNF under the standard canal schedule.
Practical
Four marked berths along the bank, bollards or rings, though in practice there is room for about three boats. The quay lies in the shade of trees. Village of Courcy just above with about 1,240 inhabitants, basic shops and a railway station on the Reims-Laon line.
Ashore
Reims city centre is reachable by train or 10 km by road to the south, with the Notre-Dame cathedral that hosted the coronation of 25 French kings. Voie verte along the canal towpath toward Loivre to the north-west.
