- 4 ft
Four-berth river halt on the right bank of the Rhône at Chavanay, Loire department, in the Condrieu wine area.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access from the Rhône navigable channel, between the locks of Sablons upstream and Gervans downstream. Maximum draught 1.5 m at the pontoon. Watch for the current and for wash from commercial traffic. The pontoon sits in the full flow of the river with no shelter from the wash of passenger cruisers running past at speed by day and night.
Practical
Berthing is free of charge. There is no water or electricity on the pontoon, which is clean and in good order. A fire brigade boat is moored here permanently, but room remains for a couple of visiting boats. No fuel berth. Village of Chavanay within walking distance for bakery and small shops.
Ashore
Saint-Joseph and Condrieu vineyards run along the slopes above the village. Footpaths climb into the Viognier terraces of Condrieu, with the cru Condrieu vineyards around 2 km north.
