Approach and anchoring

Entered from the navigable Rhône on the right bank downstream of the Condrieu lock. Max draught 3 m. Follow the VNF marks, watch for current on the river and for commercial barge traffic.

Practical

Around 15 berths, English-speaking harbour staff who take lines and handle larger yachts against the current, and winter moorings. Fuel on site, but the pump is not automatic, so call ahead, and especially on Sundays when it is unstaffed. Clean showers, WC, washing machine and dryer. Around 19 to 22 euros a night for a 10 to 14 m boat. The nearest shops are a walk, with a Carrefour Market across the river, and the train station is a few minutes away. Halte fluviale d'Ampuis 2.4 nm NE and halte de Chavanay 2.6 nm SW as alternatives.

Ashore

Condrieu AOC vineyards on the terraced hillsides above the village, Viognier whites. Côte-Rôtie appellation at Ampuis, 4 km north. ViaRhôna cycle route runs along the river past the port. The WamPark water-sports park adjoins the marina, with an artificial beach and watersports, free for marina guests on a card from the office.

History

Condrieu is documented as a Rhône boatmen community from the Middle Ages, known for the culevriers who hauled barges upriver before steam. The Condrieu Viognier vineyards were replanted from the 1960s after near-disappearance.
