Approach and anchoring

Entrance over the Laïta bar between Le Pouldu and Guidel-Plages, crossable only near high water with sufficient rise of tide. Sandbanks shift at the mouth and the buoys and charts are often out of date, so call the harbour team on VHF 9 on reaching the channel, they come out in a zodiac to lead boats in and out. The current in the entrance can run up to 6 knots. Swell breaks on the bar in fresh SW winds. About 2 m draught is available at half-tide up the estuary to the marina.

Practical

220 berths on pontoons in the estuary, water and electricity on the pontoons. Sanitary block is new but undersized, with only a single shower and toilet, and a launderette stands right by the port. The office lends bicycles for provisioning. Small supermarket and bakery in Guidel-Plages 2 km away, Guidel town centre and train station 5 km inland.

Ashore

GR34 coastal path along the Laïta, following the river inland to the ruins of the abbaye Saint-Maurice at 3 km, a Cistercian foundation dating from 1177. Plage du Loc'h and Plage de la Falaise at Guidel-Plages accessible by footpath at 2 km.
