Approach and anchoring

Approach from the southwest between the two headlands that mark the mouth of the ria. Leading line marked by a front-and-rear beacon on the west bank. Sand bottom inside the ria, which shoals and dries towards its head, so it best suits shallow-draught boats or those able to take the ground on legs. Anchor or lie to a visitor buoy in the deeper lower reach. Protection from all sectors except southwest, which sends swell up the channel.

Practical

Water point on the quay at Merrien 0.2 NM northeast. Anchorage or visitor buoys depending on season. Brigneau, another ria anchorage, lies 0.8 NM west.

Ashore

Small fishing hamlet at the head of the ria with a creperie open in season. GR 34 coastal path runs along both sides of the ria and links Doelan 3 km east on foot.
