Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west. The bottom is mostly rock and weed with only sand patches, so holding is awkward, rig a tripping line. Anchor off the beach in about 7 to 8 m on the clearest sand available. Protection from N, NE, E and NW and it holds in a northerly, but this is a fair-weather spot only, open to the SW, leave before the libeccio sets in. An unpleasant smell is sometimes noticed in the evening.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Cargèse 1.5 NM SE has a small harbour, water and shops. Port de Sagone 5.5 NM SE as a fallback on southerly weather.

Ashore

A path from the head of the bay climbs to a Genoese tower. Cargèse village on the headland has two churches facing each other, one Latin and one Greek Catholic, a legacy of the Greek community settled here in 1676.
