Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open anchorage on a gently shelving sand and mud bottom, holding well. Protection from N through SE, fully exposed to S and SW swell. Approach from offshore on depths of 5 to 10 m, keeping clear of the shallow banks fringing the beach in less than 2 m, and trust the sounder as charted depths are unreliable here. The bay is strewn with fishing nets and trap buoys that are hard to make out, so weave through them and arrive by day. The water is often turbid from the Rhône. No lights, no marks: a daytime-only stop.
Practical
No services, no landing pontoon, and mosquitoes can be fierce at anchor. Nearest refuges are Grau de la Dent 5.9 NM SE and Port Gardian 6.8 NM W. Provisioning requires leaving the bay.
Ashore
Beauduc beach stretches over 10 km inside the Parc naturel régional de Camargue, with a cluster of fishing cabanons about 1 km inland behind it. Flamingo lagoons and salt flats of Salin-de-Giraud lie 12 km inland by track. The dirt road to Salin is rough and sometimes closed in summer.
