Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west with clear sea room. Sheltered from NE, E and SE winds coming off the Cap Corse ridge, fully exposed to the libeccio and any swell from the west. The bottom is sand with good holding, but the buoyed channel serving the little fishing harbour takes up the middle of the bay and leaves room for only four or five boats; anchor on the sand to either side of it, keeping clear of the rocks near the outer channel buoys. Leave at the first sign of the wind backing south or west.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. A short shingle beach with a seasonal restaurant lies onshore. Centuri is the nearest port of refuge, 6 NM to the north around the cape. Santa Severa on the east coast is 6.2 NM over the ridge by road.

Ashore

Land the tender on the breakwater of the small harbour, alongside which a pizzeria run by two brothers serves food and homemade ice cream. The village of Barrettali, with the Romanesque church of San Pancraziu, is perched 300 m above the shore on the ridge road. The coastal path of the west coast of Cap Corse passes through Giottani and links the old marine hamlets of Minerviu and Canelle.
