Approach and anchoring

Approach from seaward to the west, taking care on the rocky bottoms along the northern shore. Yellow buoys now mark the harbour-entrance channel and the anchorage area. The bay rolls even in fine weather and wind can slip in past the eastern islet, and it is exposed to the west and north-west, untenable in Libeccio. The small harbour of Centuri lies 0.2 nm east for shelter in bad weather, Barcaggio 3.5 nm north-east.

Practical

Water available at Centuri harbour. Anchor on the sand patches between rock and seagrass, where holding is good once set and boats have lain to 40 knots, but check the set before leaving the boat. Land the tender inside the harbour, but do not leave it just anywhere, as locals may cast it off. Lobster restaurants and a grocery in the village at the head of the harbour.

Ashore

Centuri village ashore, a stone fishing port that lands the largest share of Corsican lobster by volume, with restaurants such as Le Langoustier and Chez Marc around the quay. Sentier des Douaniers coastal path north to the Moulin Mattei windmill at 3 km, with a panorama over the cape and the Giraglia islet. Barcaggio beach 3.5 nm north-east by sea, with grazing cows on the sand.
