Approach and anchoring

On the canalised Moselle between the Thionville and Koenigsmacker locks, right bank near the town centre. The outer face carries the charted 1.8 m draught, while the inside berth shoals to under 1.6 m. VHF 19 for lock traffic and to register, though it is not always answered. Nautic'Ham marina is the nearest wet-berth refuge 2.6 NM north-east, Talange 7.6 NM south.

Practical

Around 10 free places for a stay of up to 48 hours, managed by the commune. Shore power is a single 32 A socket and the water supply is not always connected. Supermarket, bakeries and restaurants within 400 m in the town centre.

Tour aux Puces, Romanesque keep of the 11th century that houses the Thionville museum, 500 m from the pontoon. Beffroi of Thionville 1392. Chateau de La Grange at Manom, 18th century listed residence, 3 km north.

History

Thionville was a fortified town on the Moselle from the Middle Ages, reinforced by Vauban after its reunion to France in 1659 and again under the German Empire between 1871 and 1918.
