Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south, leaving the Ribaud islets well to the east. Two dive-mooring buoys are laid and are sometimes picked up overnight and freed in the morning; otherwise the bottom is Posidonia meadow with sand patches, so look for clear sand in 4 to 8 metres. Holding is poor on weed and reefs lie on the eastern side where the bottom shoals quickly, making it tight and technical for larger boats. Sheltered from W to NE, exposed to easterly and south-easterly winds.
Practical
No services on site. La Madrague de Giens 0.6 NM north, Port du Niel 1 NM east for small-boat shelter. Hyères and La Tour Fondue further away for fuel and provisioning.
Ashore
The Giens peninsula links the mainland by two sand tombolos enclosing the Pesquiers salt marshes, classified as a bird sanctuary. Coastal path runs along the cliffs above the anchorage.
