Approach and anchoring

Approach from the N or NE across the Rade d'Hyeres. The bottom is largely posidonia with patches of sand, and clear sand can be hard to find. Anchor on the sand only, in line with the seagrass protection rules of the Port-Cros National Park influence zone. A small headland closes the bay and adds useful shelter from moderate west swell. Protected from N, NE, W and NW, exposed to the south and east. A trammel net has been reported set off the bay, keep a lookout on the way in.

Practical

Water available ashore. Port du Niel 0.1 nm to the N is a very small fishing harbour with limited visitor space, handy for landing rubbish. Port Auguier 0.9 nm to the E.

Ashore

Port du Niel is a few oar strokes to the north, with a food truck serving tapas and sandwiches and the Poisson Rouge restaurant on the quay at reasonable prices. The rocks by the landing are sharp, so wear shoes. Market at Port du Niel on Wednesday. The Giens peninsula tombolo and salt pans lie to the west, with a coastal path around the peninsula and views over the Iles d'Hyeres.
