Approach and anchoring

Sand and mud with firm holding, staying flat even in a hard mistral or tramontane for boats tucked close under the breakwater. Charted depths are unreliable near the sandbanks on the way in. Crab-pot and fish-trap floats lie just off the breakwater end, so leave with care, at night in particular. Shelter from NW through N to W, open to the south and southeast swell. Watch for commercial traffic to the Fos-sur-Mer terminals and respect the port channels.

Practical

No shoreside facilities from the anchorage itself, though it is much used as a waiting berth for the nearby haul-out yards, with Navy Service about ten minutes on foot. The restaurant La Lagune can be reached by dinghy along the breakwater. Port Olga lies 0.7 nm west and Carteau 0.8 nm west, both offering fuel and basic provisioning. Camargue Regional Natural Park sits inshore; the Rhône mouth and its brackish lagoons host flamingos and migrating waders.
