Large dry-storage boatyard and wintering port on the Canal Saint-Louis at Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, Bouches-du-Rhône, near the mouth of the Rhône into the Mediterranean.

Approach and anchoring

Reached from the sea via the Saint-Louis lock, which links the Golfe de Fos to the canal basin. Lock operation on request, check hours with VHF. From inland, accessible by the Rhône and the Petit-Rhône. Maximum draught around 6 m in the basin. Mistral funnels down the Rhône corridor and can make the approach lively.

Practical

Booking by phone or email is required before arrival. Full boatyard services for wintering and refit, with a professional haul-out and crane team and mast stepping. Dockside electricity is limited to 4A, with 16A adaptors for hire. The sanitary blocks are better in the newer yard than in the older one. On-site chandlery Ad Nautic is well regarded. The one restaurant is often shut and town shops are 2 to 3 km away, so a bike or scooter helps. Being wetland, the site has a lot of mosquitoes.

Ashore

Camargue regional natural park starts just west of the canal, with flamingo lagoons, horses and bulls on the Plaine de la Crau. Salin-de-Giraud saltworks lie 15 km west. Beach of Napoléon, on the Mediterranean shore, is 5 km south of the marina.
