Anchorage on the east coast of southern Corsica between Sant'Amanza and Bonifacio, sand with rocky patches.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Strait of Bonifacio in daylight. Anchoring is confined to a zone marked by four yellow buoys set by the reserve wardens; lie on sand inside it in about 10 to 12 metres, as the bottom beyond the buoys is posidonia and boats anchored outside are moved on. The marked zone is small and fills quickly in summer. Reasonable cover from W and SW only, no shelter from the east quadrant. Bonifacio lies 5 NM to the NW, Sant'Amanza 3.8 NM NW.
Practical
No services. Day anchorage in fair weather, clear out if the wind backs east. Fuel, water, provisioning and a full marina at Bonifacio.
Ashore
Coast is part of the Bouches de Bonifacio international marine park, managed jointly by France and the Maddalena archipelago on the Italian side. Limestone cliffs and maquis typical of southern Corsica, no village directly ashore.
