Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south in clear water, but rocks lie just below the surface at the entrance, so close in with care and good light, especially with a keel. Anchor on the sand patches, where holding is good even in 20 to 30 knots of north wind; the anchor will not hold on the weed. Space is limited and the cove fills with day boats, clearing in the evening. Shelter from N, NE, E and NW winds. Open to the libeccio from the SW, which sends swell straight into the cove. The entrance to the Bouches de Bonifacio lies 4.3 NM to the west; currents there can reach 2 to 3 knots in fresh westerlies.
Practical
Anchor on sand in 4 to 8 m. Sant'Amanza 2.7 NM NW and Bonifacio marina 4.3 NM W for water, fuel and provisions. No services on site.
Ashore
Low maquis shoreline of the Bonifacio limestone plateau. The GR20 southern trailhead at Conca lies inland; the coastal path above the cliffs leads to the Phare de Pertusato and the Grain de Sable stack, visible from the anchorage.
