Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the main Arcachon channel via the Chenal de Cassy. The bassin is shallow; plan arrival within HW plus or minus 2 hours. Buoyed channel from the Île aux Oiseaux leads to the harbour entrance. Exposed to winds from W through SW. Beware of oyster beds on both sides of the channel, marked by withies.

Practical

Pontoons with water and electricity, harbour office on the quay open all day on weekdays and closed at weekends. Diesel berth open in season. Slipway and careening grid. Bakery, grocer and oyster shacks within 200 metres. Supermarket at Taussat, 1.5 km by road.

Ashore

Oyster village of Cassy along the quay, dozens of producers selling directly from wooden cabins. Coastal cycle path links Cassy to Andernos-les-Bains 5 km north and Audenge 3 km south. Domaine de Certes bird reserve at Audenge, former salt pans converted to fish basins, 3 km south of the port.
