Anchoring zone on the east side of the bassin d'Arcachon, off Taussat and Cassy.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Reach through the buoyed channels of the inner bassin; the bassin dries over large areas and tides run strongly on the ebb. Sand and mud seabed. Protection from N, NE, E, SE and S; exposed to W gusts across the bassin. The anchorage lies in a cul-de-sac off the main channels, out of the through traffic and calmer than the buoyed routes around it. Cassy pontoon 1.7 nm NE, Club Nautique Taussat-Cassy 1.8 nm N for tender landings.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Water, fuel and repairs at the Cassy harbour. Watch the tide coefficient before staying overnight, as shallow patches uncover on large springs.

Ashore

Villages of Taussat and Cassy on the Lanton shore, oyster huts along the foreshore. At low water a large sand and mud bank uncovers off the anchorage, good for gathering crabs and cockles; wear shoes against the shells and oyster debris. Cycle path of the Vélodyssée and tour du bassin passes through Cassy toward Andernos and Audenge.
