Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east or south-east, clear of the rocks off the cape. Anchor on the east side of the tombolo in fair weather, the west side with easterlies, in firm sand in 3 to 10 metres. Despite forecasts of shelter, a cross swell often works in from the south-east even without a south-easterly wind, and the wind funnels over the shallow ridge in a strong NW mistral, so several crews have left at night. The site is part of the Conservatoire du Littoral and a Natura 2000 zone. Cavalaire 4.6 nm west is the nearest all-weather shelter.

Practical

No services. Anchoring on sand between posidonia patches, use an eco-mooring buoy if available in season. Watch the regulated zone markings set by the Préfecture Maritime de Méditerranée.

Ashore

Coastal path running along the tombolo and around the cape, linking the beaches of Briande to the west and Escalet to the east. Landing is easy by dinghy through a marked channel to a small pontoon. A shuttle bus runs from Briande beach to Ramatuelle, about every 30 minutes. Plage de l'Escalet 1 km north, the closest road access and car park. The site is managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral since 1990.
