Approach and anchoring

Approach from the S, between the mainland and the Îles de Riou. There is room for a single boat: anchor in 5 to 6 metres on a patch of sand between the rocks, hold poorly otherwise, dive on the anchor and run lines ashore to the rocks, which are sharp. Shelter from N through NE to NW, fully exposed to S winds and SE swell, and untenable in mistral gusts that wrap around Cap Croisette.

Practical

No services. Anchoring rules of the Parc national des Calanques apply: mooring on Posidonia seagrass is prohibited, no buoys installed at Podestat. Nearest refuges are Port des Goudes 1.7 NM W and Port de la Madrague 1.9 NM NW.

Ashore

Coastal footpath from the head of the calanque joins the GR 51-98 sentier du littoral towards Callelongue 1.5 km E and Les Goudes 2 km W. No road access, no shops, no water source on shore.

History

The Parc national des Calanques was created in 2012 as France's first peri-urban national park, covering 8 500 hectares of land and 43 500 hectares of marine area between Marseille and La Ciotat.
