Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, rounding Cap Bénat. Mixed seabed of sand, rock and weed, so pick a clear patch of sand in 3 to 8 metres; the north side is rocky and shoals to 1 to 2 metres. A buoy field for small craft lies at the head of the cove with chains on the bottom, so anchor off it towards the centre. Protected from N, NW, W and SW and a dependable refuge in a hard Mistral, with the anchor holding well in sand. Exposed to E and SE swell, and passing motorboats make it roll by day, calmer at night. VHF 9.

Practical

Forain anchorage on buoys and sand, 2 usable spots. A beach restaurant opens in July and August and a small shop stands about 400 m behind the beach from late June to late August; otherwise no services. Port privé du Cap Bénat lies 0.9 NM south, Bormes-les-Mimosas 0.9 NM north for water, fuel and provisioning.

Ashore

Sentier du littoral runs along Cap Bénat towards Cabasson beach at about 1.5 km. Domaine viticole de Léoube, a Côtes de Provence estate, is within walking distance inland.
