Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Baie de Douarnenez, rounding the Pointe de Saint-Hernot. Anchor on sand in about 5 to 8 m, with good holding that stands up to a fresh blow. Sheltered from SW, W and NW. Fully exposed to the east and to swell from the Baie de Douarnenez, and rocks dry off the point at low water.

Practical

Forain anchorage, no services. Morgat marina 1.4 nm NE for berths, water and fuel. Camaret-sur-Mer Bassin du Nautique 5.3 nm NW as alternative refuge.

Ashore

The beach is shingle, so bring shoes, and it is reached only from the sea, the landward access being closed. Sea caves along the shore can be explored by dinghy. The path scrambling up the rocks beside the beach relies on a badly worn rope and is dangerous. Maison des Minéraux at Saint-Hernot, 600 m inland, holds a regional geology collection, and the GR 34 leads to the Cap de la Chèvre memorial to naval aviation 1.8 km south.
