The tidal Seine, from Le Havre and Honfleur to Rouen

11 places · Côte Fleurie and Alabaster Coast

The Seine stays tidal up to the Poses lock, and Rouen lies about 110 km upriver from Honfleur. Pleasure craft may only move by day, keeping a watch on VHF 73 and giving way to seagoing ships. Enter the river one hour after low water to carry the flood as far as it goes. Le Havre is open at any hour, and the Honfleur lock takes boats in on the hour and out on the half hour. Rouen berths yachts with their masts still up in the Saint-Gervais basin, with 3 m at low water; the Île Lacroix pontoon, above the bridges, serves boats carrying on to Paris.
