Approach and anchoring
Enter the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz from the north-west between the Sainte-Barbe and Socoa breakwaters. The bay is fully sheltered by three breakwaters. Watch for the surf off Belharra reef 2.5 nautical miles offshore in westerly swell. VHF 10 for the club.
Practical
Pontoons and moorings operated by the Yacht Club Basque. Fuel station on site. Saint-Jean-de-Luz town services and marina Larraldenia at 0.9 nautical miles to the south-east.
Ashore
Fort de Socoa built under Louis XIII at the foot of the breakwater. Coastal path toward Hendaye along the Corniche Basque cliffs. Beach of Socoa next to the club for swimming in protected water.
