Guide
Approach and anchoring
The bottom is algae over mud, holding judged variable, so dig the anchor in well and check the set. The anchorage is open to winds from the east, south-east and south. More than a hundred boats lie here in settled weather. A & B Marina and Galleon Marina are both 0.7 nm to the south-east on the Key West waterfront.
Practical
Fresh water is available. The island itself has no facilities, so carry in supplies and carry out all waste. Bars, provisions and chandlery are a short tender run away in Key West.
Story
The island took its Christmas Tree nickname from the dense stand of Australian pines that, seen from the mainland, resemble a forest of evergreens.
