Public marina of around 640 berths on the western shore of Lake Michigan at Waukegan, Illinois, roughly 40 miles north of Chicago.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Open boating season from 1 March to 30 November. Berths take vessels up to 65 ft with up to 8 ft draught. Newly built launch ramps and a fuel pier with free pump-out.
Practical
Heads, showers, laundry and fish-cleaning stations. The fuel pier carries petrol and diesel. Courtesy bicycles, a car-park shuttle and 24-hour security. Owned by the Waukegan Port District, managed by F3 Marina.
Ashore
The harbour has a lakefront promenade, a park and a public beach. Bait shops and sandwich and ice-cream shops are within walking distance, along with the Metra station for the rail link to Chicago and Milwaukee.
